Wiki editing steps

Logging In

Go to your e-mail and accept the Wiki invite to begin this process.

Please be careful when creating a password for the LA staff wiki. This must be a password that you will remember. Use phrases instead of names. If you have a password for another account, use that one, this will also make it easier to remember.

Examples:

Every Child Will Learn this Wiki Today = ECWLTW2DAY or EcWlTw2D

My Password is a strong Password for Me = MPiasP4M

Use both caps and lower case letters

Some numbers can be substituted for letters or vice versa, making it a stronger password.

Above all, write it down.

Open Internet Explorer

Type: www.pbwiki.com
From the top right, click: login. Enter your user name and password.

Click: la3train.com
You will be taken to the Home (Front Page) page.

To edit any page, at the top of the Wiki click the Edit page tab.

Example: At the top click on the Edit tab of the Home page (Front Page).

The page appears in edit mode. Here you can enter text, add links, pictures, videos, and plug-ins.

Adding a link to the Sidebar

At the bottom of the Sidebar click the Edit tab
Place the cursor where you want to insert the link
Click on the Link button
In the first pull down window choose URL
In the second pull down window type the URL
In the Link Text window type the name of your link
Click anywhere on the blank to deselect the highlighted text. You may have to adjust the new link on the page.
Click Save

Adding a Video to your page

· To choose a page. Scroll down to the bottom of your Wiki and click on Show all pages.

· Choose a page from the list and click on it.

· At the top of the page, click on the Edit tab

· Place the cursor where you want to insert the video.

· At the top of the page click Insert Plug-in

· From the dialog box choose Video

1. Upload a video

· Choose browse to locate a video from your hard drive or portable storage drive.

· Click on the video

· Click Submit

· After the video has uploaded, click finish.

· Click on a blank white area of the page, then click save.

2. YouTube video

· Open Internet Explorer in a new window. Type the YouTube URL and locate your YouTube video.

· Copy the Embed code

· Choose the YouTube option from the plug-in dialog box on your Wiki page.

· Right click and Paste the code in the box.

· Click Next

· Click on a blank white area of the page, then click Finish.

Adding a picture to your page

To choose a page. Scroll down to the bottom of your Wiki and click on Show all pages.
Choose a Page from the list and click on it.
At the top. Click on Edit page
Place the cursor where you will insert the picture
At the top of the page click Insert Image
Choose browse to select a file from your hard drive or storage drive (optional)
Choose a from the list below
Click ok
Allow Access
Click on a blank white area of the page, then click save.
Adjust the picture from its corners.
